A NEW Cross Country Course in Beaumont, Friends of Alberta North Region Pony Clubs, in co-operation with the Beaumont and District Agricultural Society are extremely pleased to announce to the equestrian community that the light has turned green for the development of a Cross Country course on their grounds, located between Nisku and Beaumont, 10 minutes south of Edmonton. The Edmonton area has been sadly lacking both schooling and competition level facilities. There has been a continual commute of horses and riders to our closest full cross country course in Red Deer. Many local trainers have expressed their excitement and offered their support. The entire English riding community of northern Alberta will benefit from this facility. The plans are in the works to have 18" to 3'3" jumps built for the 2006 season. A large water complex and several banks are also on the agenda. Many of the portable jumps will be constructed over the winter and delivered to the course this spring. The course designers and working committee can hardly wait to begin work on the complex. The project is slated for completion in 2007. We, in Pony Club, are very much looking forward to having the use of such a facility for training, clinics, summer camps, schooling opportunities for testing requirements and Rally and Tetrathlon competitions. The addition of this Cross Country course will allow for very well schooled young riders in order to meet the criteria for moving forward in the Pony Club program. The Beaumont Ag Society has been hard at work - there are two outdoor sand rings, washrooms, concession/cooking facilities, major landscaping, parking, roadways and plans for covered stabling in the near future. Friends of Alberta North Region Pony Clubs will be seeking private sponsorship to assist with jump construction. Local businesses who provide financing for a jump will receive several years of advertising signage affixed to their sponsored jump, their name on the Wall of Fame and recognition at the Opening Ceremonies. The Beaumont and District Agricultural Society has given the green light for course construction on their Agricultural grounds two miles west of Beaumont. Our young equestrians desperately need a local course to train and test for the Canadian Pony Club program. The Edmonton area has been lacking both schooling and competition facilities and riders currently travel to Red Deer or Calgary. The Beaunmont Course will be open to all horse enthusiasts to run summer camps, clinics, and competions. Alberta Horse Trail members share our excitemnet in this venture.
